Let’s drop the « we » for today as @sweetnsassy.patisserie has mostly been a 1 woman business to this day.
.
First of all, I, Audrey, would like to thank all of you for inspiring me, motivating me, sending me kind notes of appreciation and encouragements, and supporting my micro business for the past 2 years.
.
I feel very blessed and grateful to be part of the #yvr vegan community, as a human and as a vegan business owner, those past two years have flown by in a blink !
.
On this special day, I’d like to remind our community that our local businesses, especially small and micro need us, need you, to support them in those weird and uncertain times.
While I’ll always be happy and supportive of non vegan businesses having more and more vegan options/menus/items on their shelves (clothing, make up, beauty care etc.), us, small local vegan businesses (for most, « veganly » own and operated) rely essentially on local vegan people (and plant based for the food industry).
The money you spend when supporting a vegan business will NEVER be spent to purchase animal products or to finance any firm of animal abuse.
.
This pandemic has hit all of us pretty bad, cancelling markets and festivals, reducing considerably business incomes, while bills keep piling up. Many local businesses have shut down this year, and many more will follow sadly, before and after the pandemic is over because it’s gonna take time to recover.
.
So on our second bizanniversary, we have
only 1 wish : have a third one next year 💜.
Ok, 2 wishes : that you keep your local community of small businesses in mind and decide to support them, especially with the Holidays around the corner 🎄

Let’s drop the “we” for once on this special day 💜 :
Today would have been the birthday of my (Audrey, owner) angel grandmother (aka : Mémé, second picture), who left us in February 2019.
Mémé taught me everything I needed to know about cooking and baking...until I became vegetarian and then vegan. She’s been my inspiration since day one, and most of Sweet’n’Sassy menu to this day has been created based one her recipes that I love to veganize, with her in my mind and in my heart. Not a single day goes by without a thought for her.
.
Mémé would have all the family over for lunch EVERY.SINGLE.SUNDAY and holidays (we are talking 20 people), would cook every single item herself from scratch and always make a different dessert. I would sleep over on Saturday evening and wake up early to help her out with desserts cause she liked to have them “out of way” first thing in the morning. The Apple pie being her favorite, would be more regular than others 😉.
.
To honour her memory today, and as my personal new tradition since she departed, I baked an apple pie, and because I definitely wanted to eat it, made it vegan (always) AND gluten free. The whole thing would have been beyond belief for her! I mean.. no butter ? Not even wheat ??? 😂 But I know that she’s touched and will be with us tonight when we will dig this beauty 🍴.
